Hospital Administration Department objective is to facilitate the functionaries of the hospital, focusing on the patient safety, quality and satisfaction of the patients by organising the activities directed towards the management of optimum utilisation of human resources. Coordinating interdependent relationships between health care providers and patients further to develop health care leaders by applying scientific management principles. The Hospital Administration Department at AIIMS Mangalagiri plays a pivotal role in ensuring the efficient and effective management of hospital operations, aligning with the institute’s mission to provide high-quality healthcare services.
Brief Overview of the Department:
The department of Hospital Administration is led by Dr. Desu Rama Mohan, Professor and Joint Medical Superintendent, supported by Associate Professors Dr. Kollu Vamsikrishna Reddy and Assistant Professor Dr. Ramya Jyothi Yelisetty. These faculty members are integral to the development and implementation of policies that enhance patient care, streamline administrative processes, and ensure compliance with healthcare standards.
The department’s faculty are experienced professionals dedicated to providing quality education and training to students, preparing them for leadership roles in healthcare administration. Resident Administrators are posted in various hospital departments to observe and understand the functioning of different services, gaining hands-on experience in hospital management.
The faculty are involved in day to day hospital operation of OPD & IPD services, managing security services, housekeeping services, manpower outsourcing, solid waste & biomedical waste management and maintenance issues. They are also actively involved in managing hospital support services like kitchen & dietary, laundry, pharmacy including Amrit and Jan Aushadhi Kendra, pneumatic Tube System, EHS services, Signages in the hospital building.
Department Faculty are actively involved in implementation of Kayakalp scheme of Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Swachhta Action Plan, Swachhta Campaigns and handling print, electronic & social media affairs and protocol division. Also liaisoning with the state government for resolving pending issues like supply of treated water, laying of approach road etc.
Further they are also involved in supporting institute administration in conduct of statutory body meetings, obtaining statutory licenses like Consent for Operation, Bio Medical Waste Authorisation etc. Department is also involved in ensuring seamless supply of drugs, consumables & other logistics for patient care.
Also the department Faculty manages Medical Record Department, Hospital Management Information System (HMIS) aligned with Digital India Mission implementing Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) and ABHA based registration and creation of Health records.
Under the Department of Hospital Administration, Control Room services are provided 24×7 that look after patient and staff grievances.
The Quality Cell is a key component of the department’s efforts to promote continuous quality improvement and patient safety throughout the hospital. It ensures compliance with National Accreditation Board for Hospitals & Healthcare Providers (NABH) standards through audits, gap analyses, and corrective actions. By conducting regular training sessions, workshops, and awareness programs on patient safety, infection control, documentation, and service excellence, the cell fosters a culture of quality and encourages multidisciplinary collaboration to integrate best practices into daily hospital operations.
