  • About
    • The Department of Biostatistics at AIIMS Mangalagiri provides comprehensive biostatistical support for clinical, biomedical, and public health research across the Institute. The department offers statistical consultation in study design, sample size estimation, data management, statistical analysis, interpretation of results, and scientific reporting. It is actively involved in teaching biostatistics, research methodology, evidence-based medicine, and statistical computing to undergraduate students, postgraduate residents, faculty members, and researchers. Through academic programmes, faculty development initiatives, and collaborative research, the department strives to promote high-quality, ethical, and evidence-based research.

    Mission:

    • To provide high-quality biostatistical consultation and methodological support for healthcare research.
    • To impart education and training in biostatistics, research methodology, evidence-based medicine, and statistical computing.
    • To strengthen research capacity through workshops, faculty development programmes, and continuing education activities.
    • To promote ethical, reproducible, and evidence-based research through appropriate study design and statistical analysis.
    • To foster interdisciplinary collaborations that improve the quality of research and healthcare outcomes.

    Training Programmes:

    • Quarterly Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on Observational Studies: Conducted once every three months for faculty members from various clinical, pre-clinical, para-clinical, and allied health disciplines to enhance competencies in research methodology, study design, and hands-on training using PS (Power and Sample Size) Software.
    • Data Preparation and Microsoft Excel Training: Hands-on training for third-semester postgraduate residents on data preparation for statistical analysis, data cleaning, coding, validation, and essential Microsoft Excel operations.
    • Thesis Data Analysis Programme: Training and statistical support for final-year postgraduate residents on data analysis using SPSS, interpretation of results, and presentation of findings to facilitate the timely and successful completion of their thesis.

    • “43rd Annual Conference of Indian Society for Medical Statistics (ISMSCON-2025)” during 20–22 November 2025, conducted by the Dept. of Biostatistics, AIIMS Mangalagiri.
    • A flagship five-day “Faculty Research Mastery Programme (FRMP-1) – Mastering Analysis, Elevating Research” was conducted by the Dept. of Biostatistics for faculty members from clinical, pre-clinical, para-clinical, and allied health disciplines, focusing on research methodology, biostatistics, evidence-based medicine, scientific writing, and statistical software applications from 06.04.2026 to 10.04.2026.
    • A flagship five-day “Faculty Research Mastery Programme (FRMP-2) – Mastering Analysis, Elevating Research” was conducted by the Dept. of Biostatistics for faculty members from clinical, pre-clinical, para-clinical, and allied health disciplines, focusing on research methodology, biostatistics, evidence-based medicine, scientific writing, and statistical software applications from 07.09.2026 to 11.09.2026.

The programme aims to develop independent researchers with advanced expertise in biostatistics, research methodology, statistical computing, and health data analytics. Doctoral scholars receive rigorous training in modern statistical methods, interdisciplinary collaborative research, and evidence-based healthcare, preparing them to contribute to high-quality biomedical research, academia, and public health.
