Pneumococcal Vaccination for all children at AIIMS, Mangalagiri

AIIMS, Mangalagiri is starting Pneumococcal Vaccination services for all children attending Pediatric Immunization OPD from September 2021 onwards.  Pneumococcal disease is a significant, preventable cause of pneumonia and meningitis in Pediatric age group.  Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Govt of India has started phase wise Pneumococcal Conjugate Vaccine (PCV) vaccination drive in the year 2017. Andhra Pradesh was included in the PCV vaccination drive recently. PCV vaccination is done ‘free of cost’ along with other vaccines included in the ‘National Immunization Schedule’ to all children visiting our Immunization OPD. Immunization OPD will function on all Wednesdays from 8.30 am to 1 pm at 3^rd Floor Pediatric OPD, AIIMS Hospital OPD block. PCV vaccine is given at 1 1/2, 3 1/2 and 9 months ( 2 primary and 1 booster dose).
