World conservation day was celebrated on 28.07.2022 on the AIIMS Mangalagiri campus. A host of events and activities were organized by the institute’s students, nursing officers, staff, and faculty. The efforts were undertaken under the ages of the social and environment club of the students and the sanitation and hygiene committee under the Kayakalp scheme. The following events were organized.
More than 50 trees were planted by students, nursing officers, and faculty near the AYUSH building and undergraduate hostels. The program received excellent participation, and the students who planted the trees pledged to take care of them till their stay on campus.
This activity was undertaken by the social and environment club of the students, and three beautiful murals, each carrying a message for the general public regarding nature conservation, were made. The mural itself was made from wood obtained from packaging materials. The murals were displayed in the opd and were appreciated by the public.
The competition was conducted in the Undergraduate amenities hall and attracted more than 30 teams from students, nursing, and medical faculty, with each team having up to 3 members. The students made various stuff, including show pieces, photo frames, pen stands, etc., using recycled plastic bottles, cardboards, etc. The idea of the competition was to make people aware of the plastic and environmental pollution around us and help them understand upcycling and its benefits. A panel of judges judged the best entries, and prizes were distributed.
