The World Hearing Day was organised by the department of ENT on 3rd March 2021. Various activities were undertaken by the department to mark the occasion.
- Awareness program by the department of ENT
- Objectives:
- To make people aware regarding safe ear practices and harmful effects of noise pollution
- To make people aware of the importance of the newborn hearing screening and the risk factors associated with childhood deafness.
- Target population:
- Patients and their attendants attending OPD
- Children in the labor colony
- Housekeeping staff of AIIMS Mangalagiri

- IEC materials on newborn hearing screening and noise induced hearing loss were released by Honorable Director, Dr. Mukesh Tripathi in presence of Dr. Joy A Ghosal (Dean) and Dr. Rakesh Kakkar (Medical superintendent). The material will be helpful for the general public and will help raise awareness on various aspects of ear care.
- An awareness video on ear care and hearing preservation was released on the occasion by the department of ENT. The video was well appreciated by the general public.
- A nationwide E-poster competition and video competition was conducted by the department on the theme “Hearing care for all: Screen, rehabilitate, Communicate”. The competition obtained an excellent response nationwide with participation from across the nation
- Screening of patients in ENT OPD for ear diseases was conducted where oto-endoscopy and assessment of hearing was carried out for more than 50 patients and staff of Aiims Mangalagiri.
