Highlights of the Department:

The department of ophthalmology at AIIMS, Mangalagiri is driven by the mission to deliver quality eye care at an affordable cost.

Prescription of glasses for refractive errors, screening for glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy and age related macular degeneration is being done routinely. We are equipped to diagnose and treat common diseases like keratitis, conjunctivitis, dry eyes, blepharitis, diabetic retinopathy, retinal tears etc. We have high quality equipments like digital visual acuity charts, non-contact and contact tonometers, pachymeter, digital fundus camera, slitlamps, keratometers, Optical coherence tomography, Nd:YAG lasers both for the diseases of the anterior segment (peripheral iridotomy, selective laser trabeculoplasty, peripheral iridoplasty and laser capsulotomy) and retina (barrage lasers for retinal breaks, panretinal photocoagulation for diabetic retinopathy, grid/ focal laser photocoagulation for diabetic macular edema, laser hyalidotomy, focal lasers for retinochoroidal diseases).We are currently performing minor eye operations and intravitreal injections and plan to start all major eye surgeries in the near future.
